Pair of council candidate forums this week
Candidates for Cloverdale City Council will have a busy start to this week, with council candidate forums being hosted on both Monday and Tuesday. Here are the details:

Update: According to the Cloverdale Police Department, the death appears to be from natural causes and there was no evidence of foul play. The identity of the individual could not be released as of 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 9, since the police department hadn't received confirmation that next of kin has been notified.Â
Forum outlines the pros and cons of Measure A
The Sonoma County League of Women Voters hosted a forum devoted to discussing the pros and cons of the two measures on the ballot for west county voters in March. The first, Measure A, asks voters to approve a $48 parcel tax for West Sonoma County Union High School District (WSCUHSD) and the other, Measure B, asks voters to approve a 4% increase to west county’s transient occupancy tax (TOT) for hotels and short-term rentals to help support west county schools and fire districts.
Nomination period nearing for November election
The nomination period for the upcoming election opened up on July 13. For west county, that means that folks looking to run for a variety of boards — including school board, fire district boards and city council — are able to throw their hat into the ring to be placed on the Nov. 3 ballot. The nomination period is open until Friday, Aug. 7.
