All you readers out there know by now that I’m constantly at war with the technology that infiltrates the lives of my two teenagers. Their cell phones are my worst enemies, my son’s Xbox coming in second. I often write about my frustration with competing for their attention and their lack of participation in our house.

It’s almost the Fourth of July and we look forward to celebrating another Independence Day. We should remember that at the center of all the fireworks displays, backyard picnics, red white and blue banners and patriotic songs is a piece of paper with 1,450 words and signatures on it. It is “The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America.”

Country Roads: Hello, readers

It’s been five months since any Country Roads column has been written  and I’ve missed the bi-weekly walk with you. My reasons for not writing seemed important back in October, but that was during the threatening fires, drought, and uncertainty if Sonoma County would still be in existence once rains returned to dampen down and finish off the fires.
