SMART’s efforts to lock a Geyserville station into its plans move forward next week with a public hearing on Monday evening, indicating the train’s full-speed-ahead commitment.
In June 2026, the SMART board of directors directed staff to initiate public engagement on a potential Geyserville Station.
The board’s first big connection with the Geyserville community takes place next week, when SMART brings its community networking team to the Oriental Community Hall, on Hwy 128 just over the river east of town.
The projected location of the passenger platform, however, would be on Remmel Road at Hwy 128, south of the rail track that crosses 128. That places it where the Park & Ride lot is currently located, over the fence from Cyrus restaurant.
That’s just a walking block away from Geyserville Avenue and downtown, and gauging the interest of the business community as well as tourists and residents, is a key purpose of the Aug. 10 meeting.
SMART asks that people pre-register for the meeting and invites everyone to complete a survey, which gauges potential use of the station, connecting traffic to the south (and eventually to the north), accessibility of the SMART pathway for recreation or utilitarian purposes, and similar questions.
The meeting will include a brief presentation, project information, opportunities to ask questions and means to share personal input. Spanish-language assistance and interpretation services will be available, and light refreshments will be provided.
The meeting takes place from 5:30-7:30pm on Monday, Aug. 10, and will be held at Geyserville Oriental Community Hall, 1000 CA-128.
