The fourth annual “Taking Parkinson’s to the Mat” benefit event, held at Bacchus Landing last Saturday, proved successful. Wonder Bread 5 played while people danced, gathered, ate paella and wood-fired pizza and smashburgers, sipped wine, and yes, attended a mass participation yoga class. The joie de vivre was palpable.

Sonoma County has one of three steam-powered sawmills in California that still work. About 60 volunteers meet each month to ensure it remains operational, fixing this or that, greasing gears and tightening belts so that when it fires up a few weekends a year it runs like it did in the old days. 

The Bohemian Grove Club first met in San Francisco in 1872. Its founding was intended to help creatives flourish. Summer camping started in 1878. In 1899 the club purchased 160 acres from M.C. Meeker, but the grounds have now expanded to about 2,700 acres.

The June 5 Healdsburg Forever event at Appellation’s Grange Hall was a terrific success for donors and recipients, enriching the diversity and resilience of our community. As an endowed fund of the Community Foundation Sonoma County, Healdsburg Forever has served Healdsburg and Geyserville for 22 years.

Up close and personal. That’s the view you’ll get Thursday through Sunday at the Pacific Coast Air Museum, adjacent to  the Charles M. Schultz Airport. Sonoma County’s Air History Museum preserves over 25 military aircraft in varying states of unreadiness.
