Since our grand re-opening in June 2025, the Healdsburg Regional Library has been a bustling center of activity in Healdsburg. Our visitor numbers continue to remain at or above our pre-pandemic numbers, which is exciting given the feeling of lost momentum caused by our 10-month closure.
In particular, the building buzzes with activity in the afternoons, with a crowd of 10-30 teens after school along with many adults and families with younger children as well. Noticing that all of our tables are in use most weekday afternoons, we are working with the wonderful Friends of the Healdsburg Library to procure an additional table and chairs in order to supplement the furniture we already have.
This fall we offer programming for all ages, including popular events returning for a new series as well as some new gems. Our “storytimes” are in full swing, with an indoor Baby & Toddler Storytime every Friday morning at 10:30am. The one exception will be Oct. 9, which will feature Family Storytime in the Park, also at 10:30am at Giorgi Park.
The library offers a variety of school-age programming on Monday afternoons at 3:30pm: This month we premiered a new First Chapter Book Club, and have brought back Seeds & Reads and our Tween Hangouts as well. The online events calendar conveniently provides access to events across all Sonoma County Library locations and can be filtered for Healdsburg-specific opportunities. We are enjoying a new Tai Chi series for adults this fall; events take place from 11am to noon on Thursdays through Nov. 5. The Tai Chi series has a sign-up process; members of the public may sign up on our events calendar or call the library at 707.433.3772. Again, there is one exception—all Sonoma County Library branches will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 8, for countywide library staff training.
In addition to our “Intercambio” conversational language sessions on Thursday afternoons at 4:30pm, which offer an interchange of Spanish- and English-language learning, we are offering a fall English Conversation Club for anyone learning English. This 10-week series takes place on Saturdays from Oct. 3-Nov. 21 from 3-4pm in our meeting room.
We hope to see members of the community at these and many other events coming up this fall, both at the library and around town with our BiblioBike. We still regularly see locals in the library visiting for the first time since we re-opened.
