It’s time again to set all clocks forward an hour to comport with Daylight Saving Time, to make better use of the longer daylight available during summer. Officially begins at 2am, which becomes 3am when clocks are set forward. DST runs until Nov. 2, the first Sunday in November.

Clearing French broom from Fitch Mountain
Volunteers work to remove invasive French broom from a slope of the Fitch Mountain Park and Open Space on March 8. A similar invasive plant extirpation will take place Saturday, March 15, at Badger Park to remove the giant reed Arundo donax, from 8:30am to noon. If rain cancels, those who sign up will be alerted of a new date.

Tis the season for rolling pins, sugar cookie dough, cookie cutters, and little drops of color added to a bowl of white frosting that turns it into pumpkin orange, Christmas tree green and ornament red. The problem is what is in those little jars of color.

After several years of extreme and often painful changes, things seem to be settling down. At least in the sense that no significant planetary changes are going to take place this year. The only outer planet that is changing signs this year is Jupiter when it makes its annual transit into a new sign, entering Cancer on June 25. Otherwise, we will continue to deal with the major transits involving Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
