Strong second in Tournament of Champions
The Cloverdale Little League Juniors had a massive showing at this year’s Tournament of Champions, going 6-2 in the tournament, beating Healdsburg, Sebastopol, the coast and Santa Rosa teams before losing to Westside (Santa Rosa) 13-7 in the final game.
“It was a total Cinderella story,” said coach Rick Scaramella. “It was almost too good to be true and I didn’t want it to end.”
Scaramella said the team came together in the tournament after an uneven regular season.
“It was unbelievable how they persevered,” he said. “The camaraderie on the team increased 10-fold.”
Scaramella is the Director of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation for the Cloverdale Unified School District. “I’ve been involved in little league for about 15 years, I guess,” he said.
