With all that’s going on in our country, it’s time for some good news. We need not look further than in our own backyard. Having recently attended the Sonoma County Winegrowers’ annual meeting, let’s review their elaborate plans for the sustainability revolution they are strategically designing and implementing.

Those who have strolled past Downtown Bakery and then found themselves easing into Levin’s without a thought of buying a book because they were enigmatically drawn in, join a host of others. Walking the east side of Center Street on the Plaza, there is an allure to enter Levin’s. Warm and worn Persian carpets, well-curated tables of bestsellers and frequently changed display books are part of it.

Community members in some of the county’s more fire-threatened areas are getting organized to prepare for future disasters and they’re working with local government and fire officials to become more resilient.

Winter is a sneaky great time to play golf. There might be frost at Windsor Golf Club in the morning but it will usually thaw by 9 a.m. If you tee off by 10 a.m. you’ll play during the warmest part of the day and be finished with 18 holes by 2:30 p.m. What’s a better way to spend a day in Sonoma County?
