After living in many different places, Christine moved to Healdsburg 15 years ago with a fellowship to attend Sonoma State University for her teaching credential. She also waitressed in town while renting a $500 studio in an old garage.

As the New Year approaches, many of us are thinking about turning over new leaves with a list of resolutions. Some of you may have ambitious goals like training for a marathon, or quitting a habit or taking a trip to a foreign country.

The usual headlines announce: “Father shoots his children and then himself.” Or, “He is a lying lowlife and the worst person ever.” Or, “California fires are the new norm.” Or, “Lifting bans on drilling proposed for California coast.” (Thank you, Secretary of the Interior, Ryan Zinke). Or, “Build that wall and keep out the M-13s.”

Aug. 5 was an amazing day marked by rebirth and unity among Christians as the NEWSONG Church celebrated its first 10 a.m. Sunday morning celebration at 167 Arata Lane, former home of the Vineyard of Faith (VOF) Lutheran Church. The VOF congregation is now part of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Healdsburg.
