Country Roads: Market memories

Happy birthday, Healdsburg Farmers’ Market. Though 40 years old today, it required a year or two of planning and work from a set of folks, some of whom are still selling produce.

Market Report: Pair of markets well underway

The Saturday market opened mid-April, and Tuesday’s first market was the end of May. I’m happy to report both are flourishing, despite all that’s happening in our world right now.

Snapshot: Tall trees in local groves

Riverfront Regional Park, Windsor
Redwoods are magnificent trees whose beauty we get to experience in Sonoma County and Healdsburg. These beauties are set in the picnic grove at Riverfront Regional Park. The park includes three miles of trails for walking through redwoods plus boating, hiking, horseback riding and picnicking.

We have many regular and faithful readers of these weekly editorials. We know this because we are told so in the grocery store checkout line, on errands to the hardware store and in impromptu sidewalk critique sessions. We receive lots of encouragement and are gently told sometimes to tone down the sermonizing. These conversations are our best rewards.

What we forgot to remember

Summertime is here and the living is what? Is it “easy” or “lazy?” We can’t quite remember the lyrics to the Gershwin song.

‘Angels’ lands at Raven Performing Arts

:Every Sunday matinee we do a post-show discussion with the audience, so they get a chance to make comments and ask questions of the actors. We saw there were a lot of people who were quite moved and quite touched by the play. So the opening weekend could not have gone better, as far as I’m concerned," said director Steven David Martin.
