On Thursday, Aug. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Windsor Round Table Pizza restaurant, the Windsor Democratic Club will hear from Mayor Dominic Foppoli on the state of the Town of Windsor.

Bergman discussion at The Raven was less than hopeful
On Wednesday, Sept. 18, nationally known Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Lowell Bergman came to the Raven Theater in Healdsburg for an evening of conversation about The state of journalism today. The event was sponsored by Northern California Public Media, Camellia Inn, and Sonoma West Publishers, which brings us this newspaper. Steve Mencher, news director at KRCB and Sonoma West Publisher Rollie Atkinson joined Bergman at the table on the stage. Their discussion, one has to say, was less than hopeful. Still, the good-sized audience appeared to find it terrifically interesting, and everyone I talked to said they were glad they were there.

Happy belated Mother’s Day to all you moms out there. I hope your day was filled with love and laughter. It’s truly a day to admire your children and be proud of all the work you do on a daily basis. As moms we wear many hats. My hats range from nurse, to psychologist, chef, confidant and personal assistant to name a few. Children, especially teenagers, don’t really understand all that motherhood entails. As you know, it’s the hardest job in the world. On Sunday, I officially took the day off.

People assumed when we decided to have children that I would want a boy, a first born male. I can understand why people would think that, it is pretty common for men to want a son and even that the first born should be a son. But that’s not me.

‘Angels’ lands at Raven Performing Arts
:Every Sunday matinee we do a post-show discussion with the audience, so they get a chance to make comments and ask questions of the actors. We saw there were a lot of people who were quite moved and quite touched by the play. So the opening weekend could not have gone better, as far as I’m concerned," said director Steven David Martin.
