It seems a good bet that if there is a chicken in residence anywhere where there has been a culture of reading children’s literature out loud, the name Henny-Penny is naturally a popular choice for that fowl. Oddly, it isn’t true for the other names in this old English Folk Tale. When was the last time you heard somebody call the Thanksgiving bird, “Turkey-lurkey”? Or how about “Goosey-poosey” and “Ducky-daddles”?

It’s the job of all journalists to tell the truth. Some of us are better at this than others. And, sadly, there are many people today who claim to be journalists and are not. Worse, way too many people mistake people they see on TV or in their Facebook feed as real journalists. All of this is making the job of professional journalists tougher and tougher by the day. The way you can tell who is a real journalist and who isn’t can be found in the tools, methods and sources they use to uncover the news, check the facts and report with total fairness.

The Healdsburg Library is not the only local public resource undergoing a renovation this spring. The historic Healdsburg Museum, located ironically in the former Carnegie Library building on Matheson, closed in mid-January and will remain closed until late March or early April for renovation.
