About Town: Affordable Housing

What makes housing “affordable?” Affordability is defined by state law as meaning housing that is affordable to households earning 80 percent or less of the area median income. In Sonoma County, the area median income for a four-person household is $75,900.  For many in the community, including veterans, seniors, working families, single-parent households and young professionals, the need for housing that is affordable is greater than ever.

Cannabis Country

Prop 64, the Adult Use of Marijuana Act, which passed on Election Day, went into effect on midnight Nov. 9. Indeed, it’s now legal for individuals to grow marijuana for personal use and to posses it and smoke it in the privacy of their own homes, except in Windsor, Healdsburg, Sonoma and other communities that have adopted urgency moratoriums.

Wine Words: Women in Wine

Contributions of women in Sonoma County wine have been significant, as these visionaries continue to shape our world of wine.
