Time to get ready for kindergarten
This is always an exciting time of the year as we get ready to welcome our new kindergarten students. Kindergarten will be your child’s first step in school and it is a privilege to be a parat of that journey. At Mattie Washburn, we are committed to ensuring that all students receive a challenging academic program as they begin their school career. We have a balanced curriculum that combines hands-on, real life experiences with the basic skills needed for success. Our focus is on early literacy with the goal that all students will be fluent readers as they leave first grade.
A reckoning for America
This news organization and community journalism institution focuses on local news, leaving national and world events to larger news sources. Are You Rain Ready?
It’s autumn and time to prepare for the rainy season and winter. This time of year is when we are thinking about raking up leaves, cleaning out rain-gutters and undertaking some car maintenance, like replacing wiper blades and changing the anti-freeze. But did you know you can also help protect our local creeks, communities and environment?
Wheel of Light, January 2017
The New Year begins on a challenging note with four planets lining up in a T-square formation during January and February. This culminates in a transiting Grand Square around the full Moon on January 12. The main players in the T-square are Jupiter in Libra, Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. Mars transiting through Aries joins them in February. The Grand Square adds the Sun in Capricorn and the Moon in Cancer. All the signs involved are cardinal, meaning that the main problem could be too much impulsive choices and actions. The way out can come from being more deliberate in planning.
