Wine Words: Wines for a broken heart

Last year was a rough year for so many reasons. Wildfires, floods, a new administration defined by turmoil and greed; you’ve got the gist. It was a year in which much was lost and hearts were broken. So let’s begin 2018 with renewed hope and a discussion of what wines pair best with broken hearts.

Not so golden results

The 2016 campaigns and election are finally over, thank God. Not since the 1860 election of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War, has a post-election America been more divided. Seldom has more debate, protest and howling been subsumed with so little nourishment or constructive results.

Ripe Rewards: Persimmons

Fun facts: The oldest redwood in Armstrong Woods is the Colonel Armstrong Tree, estimated to be 1,400 years old. The tallest is called Parson Jones, at 310 feet. Sonoma County purchased 240 acres of Armstrong Woods in 1917 for $80,000. It opened to the public as a state park in 1936.

‘Angels’ lands at Raven Performing Arts
