GIORGIO’S Healdsburg House Restaurant and Lounge at Grant and Old Redwood Highway
"Announcement has been made this week in 1975 that the Healdsburg House, a restaurant at 25 Grant Ave., has been sold to the former chef of the Golden Bear Lodge in Kenwood and his wife. Gene Boulware, who has been chef at the Golden Bear for 20 years, expects to re-open Healdsburg House soon. He purchased it from its original owner, Augustine Tito..." The restaurant later became known as Giorgio's.

10 Candidates, 10 questions

It’s exciting to see 10 residents vie for three town council seats this fall. Hopefully as we get to know the candidates we will get reporting by this paper and other forums that provide real substance and depth on how each candidate would make decisions for us during their tenure. Here are 10 questions I would like to hear them answer:

Plastic straws, plastic oceans

At the mouth of the Russian River, which defines the watershed in which we all live, there is a mud and sand flat full of driftwood, large rocks and lots and lots of colorful items. These are soda bottles, lost toys, household containers, play balls, boat parts, piles of bottle caps, broken cases, bags, missing shoes and unidentifiable pieces of our modern life. They’re all made of plastic.

Return to the Russian River

When Jake Messing stood in front of the mural he had just completed for Russian Riverkeeper on the north side of the nonprofit’s headquarters at 139 Healdsburg Ave., he had finished more than another mural. He had made a return to the source from the sea himself, like the salmon he portrayed.
