Letters to the Editor, Feb. 13, 2020
The Windsor High School Committee for Change, a group of students working to create a “transparent, just, and safe life for people: ranging from students to laborers, from school campus to state legislature, and from social to environmental factors” sent in several letters to the editor relating to the current lawsuit against the town of Windsor over the adoption of an all-electric reach code and approval of the SMART train funding Measure I.

Fun facts: The oldest redwood in Armstrong Woods is the Colonel Armstrong Tree, estimated to be 1,400 years old. The tallest is called Parson Jones, at 310 feet. Sonoma County purchased 240 acres of Armstrong Woods in 1917 for $80,000. It opened to the public as a state park in 1936.

Some people have a big reaction to certain birthdays – the “big” ones, usually ending in a zero, for instance. I’ve never really minded, because I never feel whatever age I am on according to my driver’s license. (And possibly because I have a hard time remembering how old I am and often have to ask my husband to be sure.)

Return to the Russian River
When Jake Messing stood in front of the mural he had just completed for Russian Riverkeeper on the north side of the nonprofit’s headquarters at 139 Healdsburg Ave., he had finished more than another mural. He had made a return to the source from the sea himself, like the salmon he portrayed.
