In welcoming the New Year, the most important story of our time continues to be climate change. A Special Report released in October by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) revealed that basically everything the world agreed upon in the United Nations Paris Climate Agreement in 2015 to curb global warming is not enough. The Trump administration concurred with the scientific evidence of this study, and with commitments necessary to mitigate global warming. Thus, the question of whether climate change is being caused by human activity is no longer a political issue, it’s scientific fact.

Winter is a delightful time for fruit. Citrus trees brighten our county with splashes of yellow and orange.

The diverse community of faith in Windsor has been broadened with the arrival of the Hallel Fellowship in early December. Hallel is part of the modern Messianic Judaism religious movement that combines the fundamentals of Christianity—belief and faith in Jesus as the Messiah, creator, savior and the only way to eternal life—with elements of Judaism.  

It’s winter. The occasional frost tips the blades of grass creeping slowly but surely through the brown, dry turf we don’t water all summer long, conserving water for the warm season crops of vegetables and orchard trees.

Change is constant

Happy Holidays to everyone out there. As much as I enjoy Christmas, it can be a hectic time and I’m glad to be moving forward. I’m thankful that my family spent it together, in peace and that we all enjoyed each other’s company and savored our wonderful Christmas dinner.
