Windsor Democratic Club: Building On 2018, Larry Martin
In a detailed, data-driven presentation, Larry Martin, the chair of Indivisible Sonoma County’s Out of District committee, demonstrated the importance of voter turn-out in electing Democratic candidates in close elections. The presentation was at the Windsor Democratic club’s regularly scheduled meeting of Feb. 28.
Newsroom Notebook: Hi, Windsor
Hello, Windsor Times readers. I’m happy to meet you, but we’ve met before, haven’t we?
Our billion dollar crop
Sonoma County has been the egg basket to the world, the hop capital and prune belt of California and a prime fruit supplier to our troops during World War II. From its earliest days of Mexican and European settlers and farmers, our abundant and fertile region has ranked as a top ag producing county in the United States.
Playing with fire
Now that it’s June and we’re past Memorial Day and local schools are closed for summer vacations, we can all break out our BBQ grills, outdoor RV equipment, camping gear and backyard mowing tools.
The magic of the market
Our last month of the market season, November, snuck in this year, on the heels of an October so scary that we barely noticed the month had changed. Healdsburg was on the edge of being obliterated, which took most folks’ focus off life as they knew it, and propelled them into survival mode.
From the Library
Winter greetings from the Healdsburg Library. We continue to work preparing for additional open hours as a result of the passage of Measure Y. As you may have heard, the library system is hiring over 30 new positions across the county. We anticipate many additional positions opening up over the next year as we work to improve library services and continue to expand open hours. In addition, we face an uncommon opportunity to improve our collections. As always, we wish to provide the most helpful information we can. If you have suggestions — such as magazine subscriptions you wish we would provide — we are all ears. We still can’t provide everything, but we’ll try to grant requests if we can.
