Rotarian Arundo removal project gets national attention

Tasting Room Tipping Point?

A relatively modest proposal to build a 1,220-square-foot, 45-person tasting room inside an existing warehouse in downtown Healdsburg has ignited a familiar debate among residents about the town’s core character. This would be the 28th wine-tasting room in Healdsburg, city planning officials said at a...

Weight classes have a meaning, and a strategy, although judges today are pretty strict in their weight calls. The technology of measuring weights is so sophisticated these days, there are few if any ways to “nudge” the scale. “So if you go to a competition and you step on a scale, and you are a 10th of a pound over, you are disqualified” in the weight class, Scott Weidemier said. “There’s no leeway. They’re all digital scales these days, that are certified every year.”

Simple enough. But what happens when the cheerleading candidate is a boy? Flashback to 1975, when they figured out how to make it happen.

Council stands firm on limited Plaza events

Foley Community Pavilion in construction
That’s the takeaway of this week’s meeting: an insistence on use of the Community Pavilion, and a denial of the Plaza location to any other event than a select few. 'Signature Events" are simply those that have been authorized by the City Council for use of the Healdsburg Plaza...

A festival of love at local film center

While some 17 films and three “surprise screenings” are spread out over the four-day festival, that obscure majority is outweighed in impact by four classic love stories, including 'Roman Holiday,' 'The Birdcage,' 'Umbrellas of Cherbourg' and none other than Nick Cage and Cher in Moonstruck.
