Books on hold: Library to close for 3 weeks

The good news is that the downtown Healdsburg Regional Library will fully reopen its doors on Wednesday, June 25, at 10am, after a top-to-bottom remodel. “Library staff are overjoyed to return to the Piper Street Branch,” said Branch Manager Jon Haupt. “Our regular location is ideal—walkable to local schools and services in the heart of Healdsburg.”

The exterior parking lot of Bacchus Landing was filled with gorgeous lowriders and classics, with several food trucks off to the far side. When I walked into the interior courtyard, I found a “lowrider museum.” Many of these cars had been in actual museums and exhibits, and featured in numerous publications ranging from the car-centric to the Smithsonian.

100 Years Ago: Arrangements have been made by the amusement committee, Frank Corrick, chairman, with W. F. Warner, a parachute dropper, who will come to Healdsburg for the Fourth of July celebration, and will jump from an airplane with a parachute, beneath which he will float to the earth.

‘Narcan Squad’ makes antidote available to all

On Wednesdays for the past few weeks, a band of lifesavers has walked the streets of Healdsburg, popping into shops and talking to owners and store managers about Narcan. Two retired physicians, David Anderson and Walter Maack, join Jeff McGee, the police department’s Social Services team member, and sometimes other members of the Harm Reduction Coalition.
