will host local amateur winemakers who will be pouring the best
of their homegrown varietals on Thursday, April 6 from 5:30 to 7:30
p.m. Winemakers include Bob Bennet (chardonnay), Kip Miller
(merlot), Peter Smiderle (zinfandel), Warren Carey (cabernet) and
Karl Shurbert (cabernet). Jimtown Store Chef Carol Mascoli will
prepare appetizers to pair with the varietals. Tickets are $15 in
advance and $18 at the door.

Noted scholar and author Thomas
Pinney

will discuss the history of wine in America at the Sonoma County
Wine Library in Healdsburg on May 12 at 7 p.m. Pinney, whose
literary work defines American wine history, will lead a discussion
titled &#8220The Pioneers of American Wine” that touches on the
themes of his books. A tasting of Sonoma County wines with hors
d’oeuvres will follow the presentation. The event is co-sponsored
by the Wine Library Associates of Sonoma County and the Healdsburg
