Marty Griffin’s Birthday Gala, which was slated as the annual
Friends of the Russian River celebration at Hop Kiln, has been
cancelled, mainly because of Marty’s health. But the FORR has
scheduled an alternate event, “Rally for the River, Paddle &
Party” at Burke’s Canoe Trips Forestville on Sunday, Sept. 12. The
canoe/kayak trip with Russian Riverkeeper Don McEnhill will educate
paddlers on the threats facing the river while enjoying a fun time.
The paddle party will assemble at 9:30 a.m. All boats leave at 10
a.m. and return by 3 p.m. The party from 4-7 p.m. will feature a
barbecue dinner and wine tasting, a silent auction and a surprise
keynote speaker under the redwoods. Tickets are $30 for the

drivers
The Council on Aging is looking for volunteers in the Sebastopol
area to deliver meals to frail seniors who are homebound. If you
