Cloverdale Little League celebrates Opening Day
It was a perfect day for baseball on Sunday, April 3, as the Cloverdale Little League celebrated with Opening Day ceremonies at Daly Field. Festivities included the parade of teams, an invocation by Pastor Thomas Craig, the playing of the National Anthem (sung by Ariana Fernandez) and the first pitch thrown by Michael Nixon of Papa’s Pizza. This year’s CLL features 182 players filling out 16 teams from T-Ball to the Junior Division. Regular season games run from April to the end of May, followed by the Tournament of Champions and finishing with the District-35 All-Star tournaments in July.
Baseball Hounds Prove Dogged Foes
Healdsburg's lead record is 4-4, but they managed to hand league-leading Montgomery their only loss so far in a 7-0 shutout on the Vikings’ home diamond on April 5. Sophomore Alex Mauro-Manos went the distance for the win, giving up three hits and striking out eight.
El Molino pilots Small Business Development and Entrepreneurship Program
El Molino High School has been piloting the Napa-Sonoma Small Business Development Center's Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) for the first time this Fall. The program has helped students learn small business skills while also teaching them how to develop a business plan. Students attended classes twice a week for four weeks with their business advisor, Evert Fernandez who is a Business Consultant with the Small Business Development Center.
