Cloverdale will wrap up regular season this Friday at Clear Lake

The Healdsburg High School cross country team played host to Cardinal Newman on Oct. 27 in the final North Bay League (NBL) meet of the regular season on their picturesque home course at Hoot Owl Creek Vineyards, racing the Cardinals to an even split in varsity competition.

Things did not go as scripted in the Greyhounds’ home football finale on Oct. 29 against visiting St. Vincent, as the Mustangs scored in nearly every conceivable fashion to spoil Healdsburg’s Senior Night en route to a 48-8 romp. 

There are times on a football field when a well-played loss feels better than a poorly played win.

The Cloverdale High School volleyball team was rewarded for a strong league season this week, landing the No. 9 seed in the North Coast Section Division 5 playoff tournament.

The Cloverdale High School soccer team left no doubt about league supremacy in the final week of the regular season, closing out the schedule with wins over Kelseyville, Middletown and Clear Lake to capture the coveted NCL1 title.

Fast times and near ideal weather conditions were on tap on Oct. 20 at Ragle Ranch Regional Park in Sebastopol, as the Greyhounds took on host West County in a competitive cross country meet between North Bay League Redwood Division rivals.

The stage was set for one of the biggest upsets of the high school football campaign on Friday at Recreation Park, but the visiting Santa Rosa Panthers had other plans, spoiling the Healdsburg Homecoming, 42-0.
