Master Gardeners share the wisdom The Sonoma
County Master Gardeners are hosting a free Winter Library Lecture
series Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to noon at public libraries in
Healdsburg, Windsor, Petaluma and Sonoma. The next lecture in
Windsor is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14 and the topic is “Soil
Improvements, Amendments and Fertilizers: Working to Achieve Easy,
Tillable Soil.” Other lectures in Windsor are scheduled for Feb.
21, “Beginners Guide to the Kitchen Garden, Part 1,” and Feb. 28,
“Beginners Guide to the Kitchen Garden, Part 2.” In Healdsburg, the
next lecture is scheduled for March 27 on “Garden Design, Color in

Absentee Ballot deadline looms The last day to request an
absentee ballot by mail for the primary election on March 2, 2004
is Tuesday, Feb. 24. The application is on the back of the Sonoma
County Sample Ballot and can be used to request an absentee ballot.
