Palmer Lee Estes passed away peacefully in Healdsburg on Sept.
24, 2006 at age 85. Born in Petaluma, he spent his youth and was
married in Marin County and lived in El Sobrante until 2002 when he
moved to Healdsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Albert and Helen Estes and grandchildren Jeffrey and Thomas
Hearther. He is survived by his Tamalpais High School sweetheart
and loving wife of 64 years Beverly, his daughter and son-in-law
Jennifer and Bob Hearther of Pioneer, Calif., daughter Nancy Estes
of Healdsburg and son John Estes of Fremont, loving grandsons
William (Kellee) Hearther, LCDR, USN, and Michael (Nancy) Hearther
and five great grandchildren. Palmer served in the US Army as a
Private from 1945-1946. Palmer and his partner Peter Doninelli
founded Estes Commercial Refrigeration in Richmond in 1953 and
Palmer retired in 1986 to travel with Beverly, enjoy his family and
friends, his jazz, photography, genealogy and his kitty cat,
Maynard Ferguson. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice
and Erin Carlson and the wonderful staff at the Healdsburg Senior
Living Community Memory Cottage. Although his stay was short, he
was treated with love, kindness and dignity. Private services are
pending. Private inurnment, Golden Gate National Cemetery, San
Bruno, CA. Memorials may be made in Palmer’s name to the
Alzheimer’s Association, 4340 Redwood Highway, Suite D314, San
Rafael, CA 94903, Heartland Hospice, or a charity of your
choice.
