Summer’s school of hard rock
Andrew Lloyd Webber bought the stage rights to the 2003 Richard Linklater/Mike White film starring Jack Black and joined with playwright Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey!) and lyricist Glen Slater (The Little Mermaid) to bring the tale of Dewey Finn’s transformation of a group of prep school students into rock stars to Broadway as a musical. It's now at the Raven Theater in Healdsburg.

Give the Raven Theater a stage, and it will fill with art—local storytelling and community-driven theater, students from St. John’s and The Healdsburg School, the Raven’s resident children’s program Young at Heart Theatre, Assemblyman Chris Rogers and a musical appearance from Pete Stringfellow. A Refuge from Scandal for Marie Curie
The 222 didn’t have to use an all-female production crew to tell this story as part of Women’s History Month, but it did. It is heartening when a theater’s commitment to its values stretches beyond just the cast and playwright, and that alone is cause for celebration.
