Back in 1975, 50 years ago, the first big event in the Healdsburg Bicentennial Committee’s celebration of the nation’s 200th anniversary included a chicken barbecue held at the Villa Chanticleer the following afternoon. For those who preferred a family picnic basket, there was even then plenty of room under the trees at the Villa.

There are five other junior farm centers in Sonoma County with a total of nearly thirty in the state. These junior farm centers will send two representatives each month to meet with the representatives of the Senior Farm Bureau at Santa Rosa and the Farm Advisor in his office. Here local and state matters will be discussed, policies arranged....

100 Years Ago: Arrangements have been made by the amusement committee, Frank Corrick, chairman, with W. F. Warner, a parachute dropper, who will come to Healdsburg for the Fourth of July celebration, and will jump from an airplane with a parachute, beneath which he will float to the earth. 

Those in need of clothing, shoes, hats, etc., should call on the Great Eastern Clothing House at once, as they are selling out regardless of cost and must vacate their store by April 1st, 1901, as the following notice will show:

Forty sacks of parcel mail, all tightly packed, received Monday at the local post office, forms the record Christmas mail ever received in Healdsburg, according to Postmaster Pearson in a story from the Healdsburg Tribune 100 years ago this week...

More than 100 children and adults gathered at a get-together meeting Thursday noon at the Mill Creek school house. The following schools were represented: Junction, Felta, Pine Ridge and Mill Creek. News from 1925: "There will be no more games at Recreation Park. The Prune Packers, Healdsburg’s famous team which has won statewide recognition in bush baseball circles, has been disbanded and will play no more games this season."

Company B, First Regiment of California Volunteers, of San Francisco, will go into camp in Healdsburg at Luce’s Park September 7, 1901, and remain three days. The members of the company will take their meals at the hotels. This and other blasts from the past...

Down by Bodega Bay, sea meets sand on a foggy day. Fifty shades of coastal gray emerge between white foam and black rock cliffs.
