Many lessons were learned from the wildfires of 2017. The most important of which is that any fire, with enough fuel and driven by wind can burn through almost anything. It is never possible to protect your property 100 percent, but there are things you can do with your landscaping to provide your family a fighting chance.

125 years ago the news was this: "The new county road up the west side of Dry Creek valley will afford a delightful drive along that beautiful section. The road will start from the Upson place and intersect the present county highway near the bridge at Lambert. The view from points along the road is enchanting at any season of the year, and is especially so in the spring time."

The holidays are coming

I love genealogy and family stories. There’s something amazing to me about how traits and characteristics get carried down, generation after generation, and in ties we have to the past. I look like my mother, think like my father and am built like my paternal grandmother.

Recently we had a visitor from the east coast, a friend of over 30 years whom we see a few times a year, but never out this way.
