No alternative facts
We wish we had invented the concept of alternative facts a long time ago. Readers couldn’t imagine how much easier our news reporting jobs would be. When Mr. Trump and his spokespeople fabricated extra millions of people at his inauguration and millions more phantom cheating voters, they had no idea how liberating alternative facts could be.
From the Library
Happy February from the Healdsburg Library. As always, the library is hopping with activity. We try to offer a variety of events appealing to people of all ages. Let us know if you have other ideas of what you might like.
Some wise-acre gardening tips
What do free range chicken eggs have to do with gardening? A little bit. They’ve actually got more to do with great flavor and nutrition and one of Windsor’s best hometown attributes. (Skip to the end if you just want the eggs-and-roses tip.)
A Look Back at History

Golf Review
The beautiful sunshine is back to warm our faces and to dry out our fairways. Like many of you, I spent the last two months watching Windsor Golf Club’s 1st, 9th and 18th fairways get battered and soaked by the winter rainstorms. Trump vs Sonoma County
Remember how we all wanted the Clinton-Trump campaign to be over so all the noise, ranting and ugly attacks would end and we could safely watch TV and read the national news again? Who knew our post-inauguration world would also beckon a regime of post-truth, alternative facts and government-by-Twitter?
Time to get ready for kindergarten
This is always an exciting time of the year as we get ready to welcome our new kindergarten students. Kindergarten will be your child’s first step in school and it is a privilege to be a parat of that journey. At Mattie Washburn, we are committed to ensuring that all students receive a challenging academic program as they begin their school career. We have a balanced curriculum that combines hands-on, real life experiences with the basic skills needed for success. Our focus is on early literacy with the goal that all students will be fluent readers as they leave first grade.

Yale Whiffenpoofs to land on Raven stage Sunday
The very name “Whiffenpoofs” is whimsical, but followers of the collegiate music space know that the repertoire and reputation of this Yale University a cappella group is anything but laughable. Sure there are old Yale drinking songs, certainly a bit of jazz-era energy, as well as more modern pop. But are they classical? And what exactly is a “whiffenpoof” anyway?
