Inadvertent Omission

If there was a farming gold standard that recognized exceptional growing, sort of an Oscar or an Emmy Award equivalent, I think it would go to Tierra Vegetables.

A week ago my dad came to Windsor for a quick visit. I had asked him to help me get some glasses for the computer, and instead of mailing back the glasses, he decided to bring them to me. We didn’t do anything special—just hung out, ordered some Chinese food from Yinking, and then had breakfast the next morning at Omelette Express as he was leaving town to head back up to Magalia.

The staff at the library have been glad to see many of you taking advantage of our increased hours since November, even with the series of holidays interrupting the flow of traffic. Our statistics have increased since announcing our new curbside hours, even during the hours we were already open. So far, the evening hours have been sparsely attended, but we expect as the days become longer and warmer, we will see more visitors at that time as well. The Windsor High School Committee for Change, a group of students working to create a “transparent, just, and safe life for people: ranging from students to laborers, from school campus to state legislature, and from social to environmental factors” sent in several letters to the editor relating to the current lawsuit against the town of Windsor over the adoption of an all-electric reach code and approval of the SMART train funding Measure I.  

David Escobar spoke Aug. 23 to the Windsor Democratic Club about his people, the Lenca-Pocan of the eastern El Salvador-Honduras-Nicaragua region and the effects of immigration on both the immigrant and the country they arrive at.
