Water conservation, car washes and water waste
Summer is upon us. We have completed our spring cleanup around the yard, made sure no standing water is present on our properties attracting mosquitos and set up our outdoor furniture. Summer also marks an important time of the year for water conservation. By using water wisely in the summer, it helps preserve our healthy watershed for the remainder of the year. Even though we received a lot of rainfall this winter, it is important to minimize water waste throughout our community.
New officers, plans for Windsor Dems
The Windsor Democratic Club held its biannual election of officers on a Zoom meeting on Dec. 5, 2020. Julia Donoho was elected President and Rosa Reynosa was elected Vice President. George Valenzuela was elected to fill the previously open position of Program Director. Ellyn Lazar will be the new Treasurer; Shirley Johnston will be Secretary.

The changing landscape of vineyard labor
Latino music playing in the vineyards as the sun rises, men shouting to be heard over roaring engines as their hands move with the precision of a surgeon with scalpel cutting one cluster then quickly another. Trucks barreling along narrow country roads delivering grapes prior to the heat of day. The entire county smelling of grape aromas — earthy, fruity, sweet and floral smells permeate the air.

Healdsburg in bloom with art this weekend
The Healdsburg Plaza will once again be transformed into an expansive open-air gallery of sculpture, metalwork, glass art and painting—not just oils, but watercolor, acrylic, chalk and anything else that can make a two-dimensional space come alive. There will be fabric arts, woodworkers, ceramics and a hatmaker, some new to Healdsburg but many return participants, in the Healdsburg Arts Festival, 2025.
