Someday We’ll Laugh About This … Right? Hot tub days

May 1 is an important date in our family. That is the date that the pool opens, and which – more importantly – the date that the hot tub opens. We are at the gate, pool key in hand, most weekend mornings the minute the gate opens. (It’s on an electric timer, so if you try at 8:57, it won’t open. We’ve tried.)

Return to the Russian River

When Jake Messing stood in front of the mural he had just completed for Russian Riverkeeper on the north side of the nonprofit’s headquarters at 139 Healdsburg Ave., he had finished more than another mural. He had made a return to the source from the sea himself, like the salmon he portrayed.
