Giovanni “Rico” Enrico Alfieri Calvi, born in Pianello Lario,
Italy, on Dec. 4, 1911 died at his home on Nov. 15, 2007, three
weeks shy of his 96th birthday. He was preceded in death on June
28, 1986 by his wife Emma Rose Triulzi of Valley Ford. Calvi is
survived by his sister Mary Winter of Santa Rosa, his sons, John,
Eugene and David Calvi of Occidental, Sebastopol and Santa Rosa,
respectively; his daughters Judy Reid and Carol Muelrath of
Occidental and Sebastopol. Sixteen grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren also survive.
Calvi was known as an independent person who provided for his
family from the 1940’s through the 80’s as a wood cutter and
owner/operator of a one man saw mill which provided lumber to
customers from the Oregon border to 29 Palms in Southern
California.
The family extends a special thank you to his helper, Torika,
and the staff of Sutter VNA Hospice. At the family’s request,
private services will be held and memorial contributions are
encouraged to Sutter VNA Hospice.
