Meet Mark Burger

Mark Burger owns and operates Health First!, a compound pharmacy
located on the Windsor Town Green. Mark, and his wife Terry, began
to offer his unique blend of traditional and homeopathic medicine
on October 8, 2004 to help patients develop a better understanding
of their own healing.
Mark decided to open his pharmacy in Windsor due to the young
and proactive population. He said he thought the town’s residents
would go well with his philosophy of being more involved with
patient health because their decision to live in town showed a
commitment to the area.
“People are genuine here,” Mark said. “People choose to live
here.”
Living near the Town Green and his business allows Mark to get
to know his customers better, and to see his friends cured of
ailments brings him great personal satisfaction. The close
proximity also focuses Mark to work better at and sustain good
customer relations because he sees patients every day.
This personal style of pharmacy care came to him after a myriad
of different pharmaceutical jobs. He spent time as a nuclear,
hospital, and relief pharmacist — even teaching pharmaceuticals.
These jobs were too impersonal for him, and he soon became a home
infusion pharmacist (a pharmacist who works personally with the
patients in their homes). This personal style can be seen in his
business which he regards as “not an ordinary business”.
Mark considers his pharmacy a “Teaching Pharmacy”, because he is
teaching patients a new way of thinking about health. He wants
people to take charge in their health and to be engaged. This
philosophy has worked well for Mark who has still kept up business
during a recession and the waves of business closures that has
occurred at the Town Green. Mark takes pride in this and said “we
have never compromised our service”.
The innocence and pro-activeness of the town that drew Mark in
has responded well to his personal approach to medicine, and has
cemented him as a part of the Windsor community.
