UNITED WE STAND A group of friends and neighbors find solidarity at the first No Kings gathering at the city’s Roundabout. This weekend’s fourth such rally will be a comparatively low-key affair on Saturday, Oct. 17.

The No Kings movement, which arose in the wake of Donald Trump’s 2024 election, will sponsor No Kings IV this weekend. Unlike previous such events, which locally featured a long line of demonstrators on either side of Healdsburg Avenue between the Central Healdsburg freeway exit and the Roundabout, this Saturday’s activity might go unnoticed.

The emphasis is not on calling attention to Trump’s extreme policies and action, such as voter suppression and deportation of hundreds of thousands of people who may not have been born here, but rather a much simpler message with potentially greater effect: Get out and vote.

“‘No Kings: Vote Early’ is not purely a protest. It is a day of nonpartisan voter participation,” read a statement from Indivisible Healdsburg’s Keith Carlson. “We aim to get every eligible voter to cast their ballot and make their voices heard.”

Accordingly, members of Indivisible and related individuals and groups will make their first stop the Healdsburg Farmers Market on Saturday morning, from 8-10:30am. Information about the issues, where to vote and related information will be shared at the Pavilion, 3 North St.

At 11am the voter information volunteers will move to the Healdsburg Regional Library, where crafts activities for children as well as voting information will be available.

Also at 11am, a protest will also get underway at the Healdsburg Plaza that will perhaps be more reminiscent of previous No Kings protests—on June 14 and Oct. 18, 2025, and March 28 of this year—with signs, chants, sloganeering and mutual support.

“Bring your own poster or borrow one of ours, but be there. We need everyone to spread the enthusiasm about turning out to vote,” Carlson wrote. “We need a landslide to show the entire country will not tolerate corruption, chaos and cruelty.”

The event will be held at the Plaza under the city’s free-speech rules—which means no amplified speakers or music, no obstruction of foot traffic or cars, no blocking of building entrances. Leaflets and other literature can be distributed, and chants and protest songs are allowed in the Plaza and on surrounding sidewalks.

Many other events are planned for this nationwide day of action; see nokings.org for other locations and activities.

“We aim to get every eligible voter to cast their ballot and make their voices heard,” said Carlson for Indivisible Healdsburg.
