I feel sad, a deep down sadness. My good friend says there is a lot of that going around. My friend blames it on the current political situation. I tend to agree, but I’m not sure.

Summer is here, a time of harvest and abundance, and Sonoma County truly shines during this season. Go to any open-air farmers market, and beautiful fruits and vegetables abound, in all their color, freshness and glory. 

I was standing in line in one of those stores with lots of checkout lines but few cashiers. As I stood there, even with social distancing, I couldn’t help but hear this loud speaking woman address her companion, “The problem with those people is that they are all brainwashed.”

We have enjoyed seeing so many of you lately as our community continues to work through our recovery from the emergency of late October and early November. We continue to stay positive, trying out new ideas every few months as we try to meet our community’s needs.

Hello market friends. I missed my deadline for the column this month, because I was so focused on making sure word got out that we were extending the dates for Saturday market. Yes, for those of you who haven’t kept up with the latest news (in Healdsburg, that is), it’s true. The Healdsburg Farmers’ Market is continuing into December; staying open through the 19th of the month. Not only will we be open three extra weeks, we’re extending the hours slightly as well: staying open until 12:30 p.m. in December, just to catch those of you longing for an extra half hour under the covers. We’ll still be in the West Plaza Parking Lot, where we are all year, so it’ll be easy to find your favorites.
