Local runners shook off rainy weather and took to the hills on
Saturday at the North Coast Section Cross-Country Championships at
Hayward High School, the last qualifier for athletes with State
aspirations.
With five different divisional races, Analy and El Molino
runners participated in Division-3 and Division-4 respectively.
For the second straight year, El Mo junior Nicole Lane was the
top West County finisher, capturing second place overall among the
Div.-4 varsity girls. Her outstanding finish was good for
advancement to the CIF State Cross-Country Championships this
Saturday, Nov. 27 at Woodward Park in Fresno. The State appearance
is Lane’s second straight, and her time of 19:05 was 19 seconds
faster than last year.
