Healdsburg's lead record is 4-4, but they managed to hand league-leading Montgomery their only loss so far in a 7-0 shutout on the Vikings’ home diamond on April 5. Sophomore Alex Mauro-Manos went the distance for the win, giving up three hits and striking out eight.

Things are heating up on the high school baseball front this week, as local teams get set to make a second half push toward possible postseason berths.

With last year’s running back Frank Rea Jr. taking over the quarterback slot, the Greyhounds have had no trouble adjusting to his leadership. Other returning players including Hayden Mariani, Max Morris and Dillon Jocius, who all made their mark on the scoreboard as well.

The race for a coveted NCL1 boys basketball championship may come down to the final game of the regular season on Feb. 13, as Cloverdale and Clear Lake do battle on the Eagle’s home court. 

Analy and El Molino wrestling teams ratcheted up the intensity level last weekend, with both high schools sending contingents to the 19th annual King of the Mat Tournament hosted by Windsor.
