2016: A remarkable year in local sports

The year 2016 will long be remembered for outstanding individual and team achievements by Windsor athletes in what amounted to an historic year in local sports. This week, we’ll take a look back at many of the highlights over the past 12 months. Although there were far too many stories to list, here are some of the year’s best.

Running Eagles hit trails at Ed Sias Invitational meet

The Cloverdale High School cross country team traveled to Martinez for its first race of the season. Athletes completed the hilly 2-mile course at the Ed Sias Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9. Varsity boys and girls competed against hundreds of athletes in the small school races (Divisions 3-5).

Eagle Pride Sports Banquet (Slideshow)

The Cloverdale Eagle Pride Boosters Club held its annual winter sports banquet at the Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds honoring the high school boys and girls basketball programs. The event was a huge success and gave recognition to not only a large group of athletes that like to shoot the ball around but also a group of students who took the time to excel in the classroom, the scholar-athletes. To become a scholar-athlete the student must carry a minimum 3.5 GPA or higher, a feat that takes a great deal of dedication while participating in high school athletics.
