Cloverdale Little League celebrates Opening Day

It was a perfect day for baseball on Sunday, April 3, as the Cloverdale Little League celebrated with Opening Day ceremonies at Daly Field. Festivities included the parade of teams, an invocation by Pastor Thomas Craig, the playing of the National Anthem (sung by Ariana Fernandez) and the first pitch thrown by Michael Nixon of Papa’s Pizza. This year’s CLL features 182 players filling out 16 teams from T-Ball to the Junior Division. Regular season games run from April to the end of May, followed by the Tournament of Champions and finishing with the District-35 All-Star tournaments in July.

Football sunk by Middletown to end rebuilding campaign

The varsity football Eagles wrapped up the 2019 campaign on Friday in the season finale against visiting Middletown, falling to the first-place Mustangs, 41-0.

Our Lady of Guadalupe’s fourth grade boys team led wire to wire to grab a 37-18 victory in this week’s Catholic Youth Organization game of the week. The win over St. Vincent of Petaluma left coach Rod Harris’ team with a 9-1 record to close out the North Bay CYO regular season. They earned the #1 seed in this weekend’s playoffs.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Church’s Catholic Youth Organization Game of the Week

Coach Myriah Volk’s 7th grade boys team defeated St. John’s of Healdsburg 34-29 in this week’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Church’s Catholic Youth Organization Game of the Week. The local squad trailed all the way until midway through the fourth period. They outscored the visitors 11-5 in the final frame to secure the win and better their record to 3-4.

Athletes of the Week: Bozeman & Martin

Throughout the school year the Tribune will name a male and female athlete of the week. Recipients will receive a sausage with two toppings, a choice of a side order and a non alcoholic beverage from The Wurst restaurant in Healdsburg.
