The Lady Greyhounds held a hoops party with everyone invited last weekend at the 72nd annual Redwood Empire Invitational Basketball Tournament, claiming two wins in three outings to earn a second place trophy.

The high school wrestling season kicks off in earnest this month with a flurry of action, and the Cloverdale Eagles are eager to compete in what should be a strong winter campaign.

Lean and mean is the best way to describe the 2021-22 Healdsburg High School wrestling team, as the Greyhounds embark on what is hoped will be a competitive winter campaign.

Holiday shopping will give way to the longest running high school basketball tournament in Northern California this week (Dec. 8-11) as Healdsburg hosts the 72nd annual Redwood Empire Invitational Basketball Tournament. An annual rite of the winter season, the REIBT returns after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and as always, will feature a boys and girl’s tournament running simultaneously starting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8 and ending in the championship games on Saturday, Dec. 11.

The U-14 Cobras became the first team ever to represent the Healdsburg Youth Soccer Association at the State Founders Cup Competition in Sacramento on Nov. 21 and 22. After the regular season came to an end, Coach Brian Saini wanted to get his players out on the field to prepare for the tournament which would feature some of the top recreation level teams in Northern California. But he faced two problems: getting enough players and closed practice fields. 

The Kevin Leffew boys basketball era is officially underway for the Greyhounds, as they look to continue the success of former head coach Yasha Mokaram.

Healdsburg High School announced that it will be using GoFan for mobile ticketing for basketball games and the upcoming REIBT. Fans can purchase tickets online through the Healdsburg Greyhounds GoFan page or by paying cash at the ticket gate. All major credit cards are accepted, along with Apple Pay when purchasing online.

The Cloverdale High School football season was one of the most successful and exciting in recent memory, a year that included both individual and team achievements. Last month, Eagle’s players were rewarded for their accomplishments in all-league voting by coaches.

The 2021-22 high school girls soccer season is off and running, with the Greyhounds hoping to take the next step toward a competitive campaign.
