Cloverdale footballers stun Clear Lake; land No. 3 seed in NCS playoffs

The varsity football Eagles notched a signature win in the NCL1 finale at Don Owens Stadium in Clear Lake on Friday, stunning the favored Cardinals with their best effort of the season, 26-12.

Running Dogs set for NBL Cross Country Championships

The Healdsburg cross country team logged a final tune-up on Friday, Nov. 5 at West County High School in Sebastopol, competing on the track in the annual Twilight 3,200. The event, which included runners from Healdsburg, West County, Ukiah, Sonoma Academy, Montgomery and Rancho Cotate, was a fun way to log some speed work in preparation for the upcoming North Bay League (NBL) Cross Country Championships.  The NBL meet will take place this Saturday, Nov. 13 on the classic, 3.05-mile course at Rancho Cotate in Rohnert Park. The first race is scheduled for 9 a.m.

Eagles No. 4 seed in North Coast Section soccer playoffs

The Cloverdale High School soccer team was rewarded for a championship season at the North Coast Section (NCS) seeding meeting on Sunday, landing the No. 4 seed in this week’s NCS Division 1 playoffs. The Eagles (15-1-1) drew a first round bye and will host the winner of the No. 5 St. Helena versus No. 12 McKinleyville match on Friday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.

The Healdsburg High School cross country team played host to Cardinal Newman on Oct. 27 in the final North Bay League (NBL) meet of the regular season on their picturesque home course at Hoot Owl Creek Vineyards, racing the Cardinals to an even split in varsity competition.
