First round upset pits No. 14 Windsor versus No. 11 Alameda

The Lady Jaguars made the most of a long holiday break on Dec. 29, turning in an outstanding collective performance at the annual Queen of the Mat Wrestling Tournament in Pittsburg.

One thing that was abundantly clear as the North Coast Section Board of Managers adjourned from their virtual spring meeting on May 22: there are just as many questions as answers with regard to the upcoming fall high school sports season. 

New coach brings in wealth of energy and experience 

The Cloverdale Eagle Pride Booster Club is opening their Christmas tree lot this week on Friday, Nov. 29. This is the second year that the club has operated the lot, taking it over from the Cloverdale Lions Club last year. The club financially supports Cloverdale student athletes from seventh grade through high school. The lot is located just north of Cloverdale Ace Hardware.

This week the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church’s Catholic Youth Organization game of the week was an exciting 43-42 victory over St. Eugene of Santa Rosa. Coach Scotty Kelsay’s 7th grade boys team was down 31-25 entering the fourth quarter. It looked like an OLG loss until Nathan Solomon hit a 35-foot three pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime knotted at 37.

The Lady Jaguars stayed unbeaten on the preseason volleyball circuit in one outing last week, scoring a road victory at Analy in four sets; 25-19, 25-19, 22-25 and 25-22.

The El Molino track team sent a small contingent of athletes to the elite North Coast Section Meet of Champions held at Edwards Stadium on the University of California campus in Berkeley on May 27-28, the last qualifier for the CIF State Championships.
