More than 250 budding young wrestlers descended on the Cloverdale High School gymnasium on Feb. 29 for the second annual Iron Eagle Wrestling Tournament. 

They say that all good things must eventually come to an end. That was the sentiment on Feb. 4 when the Eagles saw their remarkable 20-game win streak snapped by visiting Middletown in a 55-53 heartbreaker.  

El Mo eyes NCS tourney bid in strong spring campaign

The youth basketball season started in Windsor last weekend as Our Lady of Guadalupe Church hosted the 10th annual Fall Tip Off Tournament. The tournament is part of OLG’s Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) program and put on in conjunction with the Town of Windsor’s Parks & Recreation Department. This year’s classic included 67 teams playing 102 games at six venues in Windsor. The tournament’s success is attributed to the hundreds of local volunteers that help.

The exciting final phase of the winter wrestling campaign will continue for three members of the Healdsburg High School team after a great showing at the North Bay League (NBL) Championships.

The Greyhounds put the final wraps on the fall high school tennis season this month, ending the year with a solid showing at the North Bay League Redwood Division Championship Tournament.

There are softball wins and then there are victories, the kind that represent a defining moment in a season.  

The defending Sonoma County League champion Tigers are well on their way to a repeat in 2016, navigating the first half of the SCL round-robin unscathed with a perfect 6-0 record.
