Eagles softball, baseball teams notch wins on the diamond

It was a successful week on the diamond for Cloverdale High School softball and baseball teams, with each notching victories on the pre-league diamond.

The Healdsburg boys soccer team, with their 3-2 record so far this year, has found much of their success in games at home—including an 8-0 trouncing of St. Helena last Friday night. The girls, meanwhile, are undefeated at 7-0.

The saga of Healdsburg’s basketball seasons, boys and girls, continues to be played out, though hopes for a repeat league championship for the girls have been damaged by the dominance of Ukiah, a new addition to the NBL-Redwood division, which remains undefeated in league play.

Eagles outrun Lower Lake in league cross-country meet

The Cloverdale cross-country squad turned in a strong showing in a dual meet against Lower Lake contested on the 2.9-mile Brookshire Park course in Willits on Oct. 28.

It was only last weekend, in a tournament in St. Helena, that the Greyhound girls got their first win, a  2-0 shutout over Ferndale. But at least it was a win—and if the volleyball team is burdened by a 1-11 record so far this year, new coach Jonathan Nuttall hopes the win helps turn the tide.

Last year, the girls team had their best season in Clark’s half-decade as a coach, winning gold in the division and bronze in the league. This year, they’re down a couple of swimmers to 11 team members—just under the ideal threshold of 12—but they’ve been holding their own in a tough field.
