The Lady Tiger swim team capped a great spring season at the
Sonoma County League Championships on Saturday at the Ridgway Swim
Center in Santa Rosa, narrowly out-pointing unbeaten Windsor,
306-293 to forge a co-championship.
The ladies, who had lost a close decision to the Jaguars in a
dual-meet last month, turned in a performance for the ages with a
string of great efforts by their top swimmers.
“The girls all really worked well together at the meet,” said
veteran Analy coach Lehla Irwin, who guided the team to its first
girls title since 2006. “Our depth has been the strength of the
team and it all came together on Saturday.”
Freshman phenom Rebecca Baxley led the charge, recording
individual wins in both the 200 IM and the 100-Backstroke. Her
clocking of 57.48 in the 100-Backstroke shattered an 11 year-old
meet record. Baxley also swam a leg on the winning varsity
200-Meter Relay team that included Alyssa Smith, Corine Vierra, and
Ashley Boyle.
The Analy boys squad finished sixth at the SCL meet, led by
individual winner freshman Nate Kuhn, who struck gold in the
500-Freestyle and took second in the 200-Freestyle. Nick Johnson
captured second in the 100-Breaststroke and took third in the 200
IM.
El Molino was not without its stars at the SCL meet, as
Christine Lewis captured an individual title in the
100-Breaststroke and took third in the 50-Freestyle.

The West County will be well-represented at this weekend’s North

(100-Breaststroke, 200 IM), and Alyssa Smith 100-Butterfly) all
entered in individual events.
In addition, the Analy girls 200-Freestyle Relay team of Boyle,
Smith, Emily Alameida, and Baxley, and the 400-Freestyle Relay team
of Boyle, Smith, Alameida, and Vierra will compete, along with the
200-Medley Relay team of Vierra, Smith , Boyle, and Baxley.
The Analy boys 200-Medley Relay team of Kuhn, Johnson, Gabe
Horrell, and Michael Behler have also qualified for NCS.
El Molino will send diving brothers Robert and Daniel Coxon to
