Healdsburg Jazz Festival
This signature cultural event in Healdsburg is now underway, with events throughout town until June 21. On Thursday, vocalist Kurt Elling and the Marcus Shelby Orchestra will present a program at Bacchus Landing at 6:30pm, and tap dance artist Michela Marino Lerman will perform “Giant Steps: Tapping into Coltrane” at Elephant in the Room, 9:30pm. Windsor Summer Nights

Little Saint Stage
Goodnight, Texas, from Austin (to no one’s surprise), will play songs about trapped coal miners and lovebird bank robbers, with banjos and mandolins at the Little Saint’s loft Thursday night. Cloverdale Concert

Branford Marsalis
The eldest of four Marsalis brothers brings his saxophones and quartet to Healdsburg on Friday for one of the highlights of the 28th Jazz Festival. His longtime bandmates, pianist Joey Calderazzo and bassist Eric Revis, are joined by “newcomer” Justin Faulkner, who just signed up in 1999. Doors open at 5pm, so come early and enjoy the Bacchus Landing grounds, with wine and wood-fired pizza. The concert starts at 7:30pm, tickets start at $40 from healdsburgjazz.org.
Elephant Jazz
The popular watering hole and music venue hosts “late-night” shows several times during the Jazz Festival, and on Friday night its mini-series concludes with guitarist Howard Alden, recognized by Downbeat magazine as a “modern maestro.” Show at 9:30pm, tickets $45 plus fees. Market Day
Spend a Saturday morning at the Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market, the place for shopping and connecting with the agricultural community. Buy fresh local produce, snacks and crafts, and listen to live music from Hank Levine. From 8:30am till noon at the Foley Family Community Pavilion, 3 North St.
History Talks
The popular History Talks programs from the Healdsburg Museum return for the summer to the Plaza Gazebo, Saturday mornings from 10-11:30am until Aug. 29. The first talk is about 1976, with interviews with former mayor Jerry Eddinger, businessman Eric Drew and winemaker Dennis Hill, plus bandleader Lew Sbrana. Latino Fest in Windsor

Folk Notes
As well as on Tuesdays, the City of Healdsburg also presents Sundays in the Plaza, with a more picnic-oriented afternoon atmosphere. This weekend Love Notes by folk singer Daniela will be on stage from 1-3pm, free. Additional details at healdsburg.gov/899/Sundays-in-the-Plaza.
Jazz Finale
Sunday evening Cécile McLorin Salvant takes over the Bacchus Landing stage at 7:30pm for the final concert of this year’s film festival. She won Grammy Awards for three consecutive albums—2015’s For One To Love, 2017’s Dreams and Daggers, and 2018’s The Window—and is accompanied by New Orleans pianist Sullivan Fortner, who recently won his own Grammy for his latest album, Southern Night, plus Yasushi Nakamura (bass) and Kyle Poole (drums). Block Party
The new “Film Festival of Love” holds its opening night events starting at 6pm with restaurant pop-ups, local wines and beers, and live music; it’s followed by an open-air screening of 1987’s Moonstruck, with Cher and Nicolas Cage.
