Here’s a great opportunity to support young journalists and
taste a staggering array of local wines, all in the same night. The
annual Richard T. Torkelson Memorial Wine Tasting is scheduled for
Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 6 to:30 p.m. at the Luther Burbank Center
for the Arts. The tasting, now in its 29th year, raises funds for
journalism and communications scholarships. Tickets are $20 and
available at the Press Democrat, 427 Mendocino Ave. in Santa Rosa,
at the LBC box office, or at the door the night of the event.
LWV hosts Patriot Act forum
The League of Women Voters of Sonoma County will host a forum on
the USA PATRIOT Act on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at
the Santa Rosa City Council Chambers, 100 Santa Rosa Avenue, Santa
Rosa. Panelists will include Dr. David McCuan, SSU political
science professor, Mark Zanides, Assistant U.S. Attorney, chief,
anti-terrorism section, and Judith Volkart, ACLU board member and
Constitutional Law lecturer at SSU.
